Provide competent and pragmatic risk and health & safety advice and support in accordance with the provision of services provided by the Hospital, so to ensure effective health and safety risk management and compliance with statutory duties.

We are looking for a experienced and driven individual to join our Governance Team .

Located in leafy St John’s Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our luxury private Hospital has an international reputation for providing the highest quality of care to patients and is unique in that all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St John’s.

Key Tasks

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Provide advice and information in accordance with statutory requirements set out in health and safety legislation,
  • Provide a responsive health and safety advisory service to Heads of Departments and the Hospital Management Board,
  • Ensure the Corporate Health and Safety policy is reviewed, and updated as a minimum annually, or sooner to reflect the services provided by the Hospital and current  health and safety legislation,
  • Write and/or assist with the writing (including review and update) of appropriate policies, procedures and other relevant organisational risk or health and safety documentation, 
  • Prepare a risk management strategy which is an essential element of the Hospital’s integrated governance and risk framework.  The purpose of the strategy is to ensure effective arrangements are in place to minimise risk and promote a positive health and safety culture for the delivery of service excellence,  
  • Assist with health and safety inspections and audits in accordance with statutory requirements,
  • Assist departments with risk assessments, including post incident risk assessment, COSHH risk assessments and the risk escalation,
  • Demonstrate and promote a pragmatic approach to risk management,  
  • Chair the quarterly Risk and Health and Safety Committee, which reports to the Quality Assurance Committee Committee,
  • Attend appropriate committee meetings including but not limited to Water Safety Group, Fire Safety Group and Infection Control Committee when requested,  
  • Advise, assist, write and deliver appropriate in-house health training workshops,
  • To review non clinical health and safety DatixWeb accidents and incidents and where necessary undertake or assist with accident investigations.  To provide advice or support to the Governance Co-ordinators in relation to other DatixWeb incidents,
  • Liaise with the external organisations, including for example, the Health and Safety Executive and other enforcing authorities,   
  • Deliver in-house corporate induction training on behalf of the Governance Team,   
  • Produce a quarterly  risk and health and safety newsletter.
  •  MANAGEMENT
  • Support the development and production of policies and procedures pertinent to the role and functions of the Hospital,
  • Manage and keep up to date with IOSH continual professional development (CPD).
