An exciting opportunity for an experienced Theatre Manager to join an expanding team at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth.

Theatre Manager

Hours: 37.5 hrs

Salary: Up to £62,177 per annum


This is an exciting opportunity for a strong clinical manager to join our Hospital at an exciting time of change and expansion. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, you will be responsible for providing strategic operational leadership of our Theatres directorate; leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team within our Theatres, Endoscopy and HDU departments.

We have also just started construction of a new hospital development to create state of the art Theatres as well as a dedicated Day case Unit. You will have the opportunity to influence and develop the processes and pathways for patients.

Key responsibilities

  • To be a highly visible leader and role model to all staff within the teams.

  • To ensure there is an effective on call out of hours service

  • To allocate staff appropriately, utilising the skill mix to its full potential.

  • To provide strategic and operational direction to build the departmental business; plan new services and introduce new technologies as required.

  • To provide a highly responsive service to consultant users.

  • To be responsible for managing the department within an agreed annual budget including working hours and units of service, maximizing revenue recapture and cost control.

  • To promote effective communication and co-operative working arrangement with other departments, in particular Wards and Imaging Departments.

  • To ensure the working environment is of a high standard, including levels of cleanliness, to maintain safety at all times.

  • To investigate incidents and complaints

You will have excellent organisational and management skills with the ability to flexibly respond to the needs of the department and the hospital. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to effect change and set, implement and evaluate standards of practice.
